Borehole Seismic
Precise correlation of seismic data with wellbore information
Why this service is important
Borehole seismic provides data recorded directly within the wellbore and its surroundings. It is an important complement to surface seismic and downhole geophysical measurements, helping to correlate the seismic image with actual depth, geological structure and wellbore data.
GT’s offer
GT offers a comprehensive range of borehole seismic services — from modelling and survey design, through data acquisition, to processing, interpretation and documentation of results. GT carries out, amongst other things, vertical seismic profiling (PPS/VSP) in zero-offset, offset, walk-away and 3D configurations, as well as microseismic monitoring and walk-away measurements carried out during drilling.
Scope of services
- modelling and design of borehole seismic surveys
- acquisition, processing, interpretation and documentation of results
- PPS/VSP zero-offset, offset, walk-away and 3D
- measurements in vertical, directional and horizontal wells
Technologies and operational advantages
GT carries out borehole seismic surveys using multi-level recording systems, adapted for use in vertical, directional and horizontal boreholes.
Downhole recording allows for a more accurate determination of the relationship between seismic time and depth, improves the correlation of surface data with downhole information, and enables better recognition of the geological structure in the immediate vicinity of the well.
Value for the client
The client receives data of high calibration value, supporting the correlation of surface seismic data with the well, the identification of structures in the vicinity of the well, the assessment of fault zones, and decisions regarding well location and trajectory.
