Comprehensive Seismic Data Acquisition - Geofizyka Toruń S.A.

Comprehensive Seismic Data Acquisition

State-of-the-art recording technologies, flexible implementation and high-quality seismic data

Why this service is important

Seismic data acquisition is the first stage of integrated seismic surveys and largely determines the quality of subsequent processing, imaging and interpretation. Properly designed and executed surveys provide data on the structure and geometry of the geological medium, which is essential for the assessment of deposits, geothermal systems, storage structures and project implementation conditions. The key challenge is to combine high-quality data with safety, operational efficiency, cost control and minimising environmental impact.

GT’s offer

GT carries out comprehensive seismic data acquisition programmes on land, at sea and in transitional zones. GT delivers 2D and 3D seismic surveys, including 3C multicomponent recordings, large-scale 3D surveys, low-velocity zone surveys and high-resolution UHR seismic surveys in offshore areas.

The type of work, survey geometry, recording technology and source systems are selected to suit the geological objective, site conditions, required resolution and the needs of subsequent processing and interpretation. GT’s services support the upstream sector, geothermal energy, CCS, underground storage, nuclear energy, offshore wind energy and infrastructure projects.

Scope of services

  • seismic surveys on land, in the transition zone and in offshore areas
  • ultra-high-resolution (UHR) seismic surveys
  • 2D and 3D seismic surveys, including 3C acquisitions and large-scale 3D surveys
  • low-velocity zone surveys, including interpretation
  • seismic survey design, permitting, surveying, GIS and stakeless surveying
  • data acquisition using wireless and nodal systems
  • energy sources including vibrators, explosives, pneumatic sources (air guns), sparkers and weight-drop systems
  • Flip-Flop, Slip-Sweep and ISS, signal separation (deblending), quality control and Fast Track

Technologies and operational advantages

In carrying out its contracts, the Company utilises its own equipment and next-generation technologies, including wireless and nodal systems, supported by its own technological and operational solutions. GT employs various excitation sources: seismic vibrators, explosives, pneumatic sources (air guns), sparkers and weight-drop systems. The Company’s own seismic drilling equipment enhances operational autonomy and flexibility in carrying out work.

Of particular importance are technologies that enhance acquisition productivity, such as Flip-Flop, Slip-Sweep and ISS (Independent Simultaneous Sweeping). In simultaneous excitation acquisition, signal deblending is used to prepare the data for further processing.

The GT teams’ experience encompasses projects carried out in a wide range of terrain and climatic conditions — from urban and agricultural areas, through environmentally sensitive areas, to transitional zones and marine environments. The combination of technology, in-house facilities, quality control and high QHSE standards enables work to be carried out safely, efficiently and in accordance with client requirements.

Value for the client

The client receives high-quality seismic data, acquired safely, efficiently and in line with the survey’s objectives. State-of-the-art nodal systems, high spatial sampling density, operational flexibility, advanced quality control and the expertise of field teams help to minimise operational and environmental risks and prepare the data for further processing, imaging and interpretation.
